In reading the three other reviews I am wondering if they are talking about the same cemetery! I have dealt with nothing but unprofessional people and severe damage done to grave sites. Plywood simply placed atop the grave markers. Cracked stones as they drive the large front end loaded right over the graves instead of taking an alternate route that would not damage or tear up the grave sites.

My father, uncle and grandparents are all here and their grave sites were severely damaged, pictures to prove it, in April of last year. Grave stones completely submerged and the stone attached cracked due to the front end loader driving on it. Then when I went in to inquire about the damage and the fact I could not get to the grave markers due to the damage and being simply covered up by plywood, I was informed that I must not know where they are because "Nobody here would ever do such a disrespectful thing here". As I was escorted to the location, the lady who assured me nobody would ever do that was left speechless. Many false promises and and assurances that the malicious damage was being repaired and of the utmost priority only to finally be taken care of in September when I threatened to contact the press.

That finally got the ball rolling. Which is truly a shame that one has to resort to such drastic measures before anything will be done. Of course at that time, I was informed that it was because the grounds crew are union workers and they really cannot be disciplined so there work reflects it. Was just out there again within the week and again the place is in serious disarray. Tire tracks directly over the graves so the workers can take the shortest route, to hell with the most respectful route. That extra minute is really going to cause issues I'm sure. I also have family in the Novi cemetery that the same company owns and it is completely night and day between the two places!

You can clearly see in Novi that the management truly cares and the grounds crew are extremely respectful and do their work in a highly professional manner. Sure they are helpful upfront to get the cash but do not expect anything after that as this place is only concerned about the cash!

I would avoid this place at all costs! Lazy, lying, and inept employees that should be ashamed of themselves for treating peoples loved ones as they do. Zero regard for anybody currently or passed. A total disgrace.

Doesn't look well maintained at all. Roads are badly rutted and many headstones were under water. Lots of trash around the perimeter. Some benches were knocked over.

Update: the trash was cleaned up last time I passed through. Looks better when everything is dry, but the roads are still in bad repair. Many stones have been damaged by careless mowers.

  • My son was buried 1-28-17 in the Garden of Honor. The staff were so kind and helpful paying attention to the smallest detail. The vault was above ground. The tractor operator was so gentle in lifting my son's casket into the vault like picking a baby up. He then gently set vault lid on and sealed and then gently lowered into the ground. We felt our son was so well cared for and treated with dignity. Today i was there and office staff so helpful.
Employee Blair was also so kind and helpful, very social and answering my questions and helping me as i had the location map turned in the wrong direction. I can't emphasize enough
how much appreciated the staff are and how much we appreciated the attention given to every detail of our son's burial.

My mother and grandfather are buried side by side in the garden of light and I have been trying to get the office to plant grass on a balled patch of dirt for 2 years now on my mother's grave ,it is not very noticeable from the street but very noticeable and tacky when I visit and sit and talk . Its been unattended for so long that weeds have grown on half the dirt and rocks . In the 2 years, I have called 3 times and stopped in the office once. The last time I called, I spoke with yevett who said she knew nothing about my request and said there is no email address I can write to document my request. She also said that the grass will be repaired in 4-6 weeks, it's been 6 weeks now and it's still not fixed.

Beware & do your research before burrying your loved ones. MANY head stones were COMPLETELY GROWN OVER. So good luck trying to find them later. I learned that Mt. Hope is run by a company, which resides over 28 cemetaries. It appears they are kind when they want your money upon a loved ones death. But could care a less what becomes of the site. Oh they will find and raise the marker upon your request....but what about the others....Every ones loved ones deserve respect and maintenance of their site. I could not be leave how many sites were unreadable, or grown over to the point as if they never existed. THIS IS TRULY SHAMEFULL.
